Rendall has been a member of St Magnus since moving to Shetland in 2018, and will serve as an assistant curate at both St Magnus and St Colman, Burravoe in Yell.

She said she “never imagined” that she would be called to continue her journey of ministry at her age.

“I’m so grateful for the love and support I’ve received from family, and friends here in Shetland during this journey towards ordination,” Rendall said.

“As a priest I can now begin to give something back as I minister to the church and the wider community”.

SHETLAND Arts has announced the first performances for its upcoming Soup and a Show series.

These shows will run monthly in Mareel at lunchtimes (1pm), with the idea that it features a short, 40-minute performance that can take place during your lunch hour.

Starting from October, three shows have now been confirmed, to be performed by Liz Tulloch, Chloe Tallack and Jono Sandilands and Jenny Watt & Dierdre Hayward.

The first show, on Thursday 9 October, is called Honouring the Elders and will see Tulloch host a storytelling session celebrating her father, isles storyteller Lawrence Tulloch.

Shetland Arts’ creative project manager Kathryn Gordon said the organisation is “really looking forward to showcasing these three excellent local performances”.

“The fact you can come in on your lunch hour and enjoy some excellent art over a bowl of soup, will be a fun, and a slightly different way, to spend your lunch break.”
