Business / Food group publishes new ‘Where to Eat’ guide

TASTE of Shetland has published its new ‘Where to Eat’ guide.

The food group said it has aimed to include as many local businesses as possible, with everyone being listed at no cost and the complimentary guide being available to locals and visitors in print and online.

Marketing and media officer Becky Robertson described it as a “huge task” to put together all the information.

“But we are delighted to have over 70 businesses included,” she said.

“The aim was to include every restaurant, cafe and take away in Shetland.

“We added a cake fridge section too, but soon realised that these pop up so quickly that it was impossible to find them all ourselves, so we based those listings on the businesses who responded to our adverts on social media.”

Sponsored by NorthLink, the printed version of the guide – which will have a map and the contact details of the businesses – will be out in the coming weeks and be available to pick up from various points around the isles.

These will include the NorthLink ferry terminal, the Shetland museum and local shops.

Taste of Shetland chair Marian Armitage said the group hopes that the guide – created by Lou Jackson Design – will be “something that local folk and visitors refer to again and again”.

She added that without sponsorship “we couldn’t have got together such a comprehensive guide – with zero cost to the businesses included”.

The online version of the guide features more information about each business and includes photos and links.

Taste of Shetland said that any business which has a listing which it would like to add to, or change, is encouraged to contact guides@tasteofshetland.com.
