Education / Lewis to retire from role at top of UHI Shetland
UHI Shetland has confirmed that its principal and CEO Professor Jane Lewis will retire at the end of the year.
The college said Professor Lewis has played a “pivotal role” in shaping UHI Shetland since its earliest days.
She joined in 2019 to oversee the merger of Shetland College, the NAFC Marine Centre and Train Shetland, which resulted in the creation of UHI Shetland.
“It has been a privilege to work with so many talented colleagues,” Professor Lewis said.
“I am proud of the development of UHI Shetland since its inception in 2021 and wish staff and students all the best for the future,” said Professor Lewis.
Dr Mason Robbins, outgoing interim chair of the UHI Shetland board of management, added: “We will undoubtedly miss both her professionalism and dedication to the role, as well as her unwavering support for Shetland’s educational needs and ambitions.”
Meanwhile earlier this month it was announced that councillor Stephen Leask had been appointed as the new chair of the UHI Shetland board.
UHI Shetland operates colleges in Lerwick and Scalloway, however there is an aim to move to a single campus model based in Scalloway.
