Arts / Mareel DJ night to support ‘seven in seven’ charity fundraising

A DJ night is being held in Mareel next weekend to support a local running-themed challenge which is raising money for a number of charities including MND Scotland.

Money raised through the DJ event in Mareel’s cafe/bar on Saturday 12 October will go towards Jeff Dobson’s seven half marathons in seven days campaign.

He took on the challenge after his dad was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND), which came following news that he had prostate cancer.

His dad has also lived with Crohn’s disease for the past 35 years.

So far Dobson has raised nearly £8,000 to be split between MND Scotland (50 per cent), MND Association (30 per cent), Crohn’s and Colitis UK (10 per cent) and Prostate Cancer (10 per cent).

On the line-up at the event on 12 October – which will mark the end of Dobson’s ‘seven in seven’ challenge – will be DJ Lyall, DJ Yetti, DJ Kyle and Stroopy.

It has been described as a “night of house, disco, funk, neo soul, garage, laid back beats and floor fillers, all for a good cause”.

Tickets are available in advance for £6, with entry for age 18 plus only.
