Letters / A bribe to the community

It was deeply disappointing to read that the local environment in Yell will be damaged by this short-term speculative venture.

As usual, the promise of attractive-sounding community benefits is presented as a bribe to the community.

The £18.9 million quoted over the potential lifetime of 30 years works out at around £27 per capita per annum at present Shetland population levels.

Does the local community truly believe this is worth proceeding with?
