Health / Latest update on local Covid and flu vaccination arrangements
NHS SHETLAND is currently offering Covid booster and flu vaccination to everyone aged 75 and over, as well as first or second doses for anyone over the age of 12.
All vaccinations are by appointment only; there are currently no walk-in appointments offered at the vaccination centre at Gilbertson Park.
In an update on Wednesday, the health board said that people aged 75 and over will be contacted by their local health centre to arrange for an appointment there.
Those living in Lerwick will be contacted and invited to make an appointment for the Gilbertson Park vaccination centre.
Appointments for Gilbertson Park are offered Thursdays 22 and 29 September from 11.30am to 5pm, and for the same time slot on Tuesday 27 September.
For people who are unable to leave their home, the community nursing and vaccination teams are visiting people to offer vaccinations. The teams completed visits to the care homes last week.
Meanwhile, anyone over 12 who still requires their first or second dose of Covid vaccinations or missed their booster last winter (if 16 or over) can still contact the vaccination team to book an appointment.
Appointments for first and second doses of Covid vaccine continue to be offered for those aged 5-11 years.
Children who turned five before 31 August 2022 are still eligible for Covid vaccine if they have not already had it. Those who had their fifth birthday on 1 September or later, are only eligible if they are in a clinical risk group.
To ask about a vaccination appointment, or for any other questions, you can contact the vaccination team on 01595 743319 or shet.vaccination-team@nhs.scot
