Letters / Planning underway for next Shetland Pride on 1 July 2023

We were so proud the people of Shetland came out in their thousands to support Shetland’s first ever Pride Festival on Saturday. We were stunned by the huge turnout and support which literally blew our committee and I away.

I was personally moved by the huge number of people who approached me and were emotionally thankful to me for organising the Pride festival saying such an event was long overdue.

Our small but totally dedicated committee worked hard for months to create the vision we had to organise a such a huge event, but it was the people of Shetland that came out in such huge numbers to support and celebrate Pride that made it actually happen and become a reality.

Pride celebrations declared a huge success

Thank you so much to everyone including all our volunteers, the parade participants, the police, the bands, DJ and audio guys, drag performers from Glasgow, the security guards, the Islesburgh centre, the SIC, local and corporate business supporters and to others too many to mention. We all worked together, and we did it!

Next year’s Shetland Pride is already being planned for Saturday, 1 July 2023 – and could be even bigger!
