In Pictures / Gun salute held in Lerwick

Gun number one being fired.

THERE was a rare chance to witness a gun salute in Shetland on Saturday as visiting army personnel put on a show.

The 21 gun salute was undertaken by the 105 Royal Artillery Regiment at Fort Charlotte in Lerwick at midday.

The ‘feu de joie’ event, designed to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee as well as engage with the local community, was witnessed by local dignitaries as well as members of the public.

Thanks to Austin Taylor for photos from the event.
