Latest figures show another Covid death in isles

ANOTHER death of a patient who had confirmed Covid has been registered in Shetland.

The news was included in the latest (Thursday) coronavirus update from Public Health Scotland.

It is the second death recorded in as many days in the statistics, which run up to 13 January. The Public Health Information data says both deaths were reported on 10 January.

No new cases of coronavirus were included in today’s update.

NHS Shetland director of nursing and acute services Kathleen Carolan has confirmed that there are currently three Covid patients in the Gilbert Bain Hospital. All are stable.

Across Scotland a further 1,707 people have tested positive for Covid-19.
