Emergency services / Busy night at fire station
HOUSEHOLDERS are being reminded to have their lums swept and fire alarms checked following a fire brigade call out to a house in central Lerwick last night.
One appliance was tasked to a suspected chimney fire, but the 11pm mission turned out to be an inspection and advisory visit with the fire crew returning to base within 25 minutes.
Scottish Fire and Rescue Service Shetland group manager Matt Mason also reassured people that services at the shared SFRS/Scottish Ambulance Service station at the town’s south road are unaffected following a minor plumbing flood.
Mason said that fire crews were summoned again at 4am this morning but quickly had the leak under control and cleaned and tidied up. There was some cosmetic damage caused by the flood.
“I’d just like to reassure everyone the fire and ambulance station is fully functional and back to business,” Mason said on Thursday morning.
