Police / Driver in ‘serious but stable condition’ after accident
Diversion was put in place near Fladdabister
THE DRIVER involved in a one-vehicle road accident near Fladdabister on Saturday night remains in hospital in a “serious but stable condition”.
Police added that the passenger of the vehicle was discharged after being treated for minor injuries.
Emergency services were called after the accident took place just before midnight. Two people were taken to hospital.
The A970 road was closed to allow the road policing unit to carry out investigations and a diversion was in place via the single track road through Fladdabister.
Shetland Islands Council said at 8.45pm on Sunday that the road was open again.
Police Scotland appealed for any witnesses to come forward following the incident.
