Man faces rape charge

A MAN was released on bail on Wednesday after appearing at Lerwick Sheriff Court from custody on a petition alleging a contravention of the Sexual Offences (Scotland) Act 2009.

Twenty one year old Kenneth Bryant, of Lerwick, faced a single charge of rape and sexual assault when he appeared in private.

He made no plea, was committed for further examination and was released on bail.
