News / Inspiring youngsters raise cash in memory of grandad

TWO young cousins from Brae have raised £2,600 for Cancer Research UK in memory of their late grandfather – comfortably smashing their initial target of £300.

Eight year olds Missy McShane and Leah Laurenson hosted a bake sale at the Brae Co-op in late June, where they raised an impressive £1,414.41.

Extra donations were handed in online too, bringing the total to £2,600.

The cousins’ grandad Laurie passed away from a colorectal cancer in February and the girls were keen to raise money for Cancer Research.

The pair were said to be “more than delighted” at their fundraising total, with further events potentially in the pipeline.
