News / Walk, run or cycle from Tingwall to Bridge End
PEOPLE are being invited to walk, run or cycle from Tingwall to Bridge End in Burra on Saturday in support of the Year of Young People.
The Routing4Youth event has been initiated by St Columba’s church in Lerwick, although all of the isles’ churches have been involved in the planning.
Consent forms must be completed first at the Tingwall Kirk car park from 9.30am, with the challenge beginning at 10am and finishing at the Bridge End Hall, where lunch will be available.
People of all ages are welcome travel as much of the route as they want by walking, running or cycling at their own pace.
In the evening a concert will be held at St Columba’s church from 7pm, with Kirrmirren, young fiddler of the year Emma Leask, Eunice Henderson and young traditional Shetland fiddlers joined by Odessa and the North Ness Boys on the bill.
Church of Scotland youth moderator Robin Downie will give a talk about an interfaith visit to Rwanda, with tea and homebakes also on offer.
Donations can be given to Disability Shetland and Christian Aid.
