News / Transport minister Yousaf to visit the isles
SCOTTISH transport and islands minister Humza Yousaf is due to visit Shetland next week amid speculation that details of the roll-out of cheaper ferry fares for the Northern Isles could be announced.
The SNP minister, who is also visiting Orkney, is due to arrive in the isles on Friday.
Transport Scotland has always maintained that RET-variant ferry fares for the Northern Isles ferry routes will be implemented in the first half of 2018.
Yousaf is also expected to meet council representatives over the proposed car parking charge at Sumburgh Airport.
He is also due to visit the Stewart Building Transport Group, which represents the seafood industry, to talk about freight fares on the NorthLink ferries.
