News / Returning cellist to perform with community orchestra
AN ACCLAIMED cellist is set to return to the isles next month for a performance with the Shetland Community Orchestra.
Abby Hayward, who moved to Shetland when she was a child before studying and living south, will perform Schumann’s cello concerto at the Lerwick Baptist Church on 3 March.
She will perform alongside her sister Annalie, while father Nigel will also be involved.
The concert will also feature Dvorak’s Symphony No.9 From The New World and the intermezzo from Kodaly’s Hary Janos Suite.
Abby Hayward is a cellist for Aurea Quartet and she has performed with the London Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as recording for BBC Radio 3.
Tickets for the concert are available from Shetland Arts box office or on the door.
