News / Rockers vie for festival slot
A LOCAL metal group is in Edinburgh this weekend to play a battle of the bands gig which could see them perform at a large festival in the city later this year.
Quantana will vie against four other bands at the Opium venue on Saturday in the hope of advancing to the final of the competition later this month.
The ultimate winner will play at the Heavy Scotland event in Edinburgh in September, which includes the likes of British veterans Carcass on the bill.
“We’d love to think we’d stand a good chance of going through, but with the style and background of the previous festival, we think we might find it difficult to impress the judges as we’re more dynamic that the others, but who knows,” drummer Dwanye Davies said.
“To reach the final in two weeks would be phenomenal, but we’ll just need to see what tomorrow brings.”
