Althing to debate autonomy

THE ISSUE of whether Shetland should become autonomous will be debated at the next Althing event later this month.

Speaking in favour of the motion “The time is right for Shetland autonomy” will be Wir Shetland members James Titcomb and Duncan Simpson.

Those debating against the idea of self-governance in the isles will be Kevin Learmonth and Jonathan Wills.

The event will take place at Lerwick’s Staney Hill Hall on 22 April, with the evening kicking off at 7.30pm.
