A LOCAL apprentice farmer is celebrating after winning a learner of the year prize at the 2017 Lantra Scotland awards.
Jakob Eunson, who works at Uradale Farm in Scalloway, collected the agriculture award in person at the Dunblane event on Thursday night.
John Blance, who recently gained a modern apprenticeship in aquaculture at the NAFC Marine Centre in Scalloway before working for Grieg Seafood, was also honoured.
He was named runner-up in the aquaculture category of the awards, which celebrates training in land-based and environmental fields.
