News / Gemini departs village after year-long stay
MV GEMINI, the cruise ship that has been berthed in Scalloway for the past 14 months providing accommodation for oil and gas workers, departed the islands on Tuesday morning.
Lerwick Port Authority’s two tugs Kebister and Knab were drafted in to usher the Gemini out of Scalloway.
The boat first arrived in the village in October last year and is now heading off to a Turkish shipyard for a refit.
MV Gemini was first chartered by Petrofac in the summer of 2014 to accommodate up to 400 personnel as efforts to complete the far behind schedule Shetland Gas Plant were ramped up.
