News / LPA appoints new chairman
LERWICK Port Authority has appointed Brian Anderson as its new chairman, succeeding the late Harry Jamieson following his untimely death in June.
The appointment was made at the harbour authority’s AGM. Anderson was already serving as vice chairman and board member Ronnie Gear has now been elected to that position.
Anderson said: “It is an honour to chair the authority during these exciting times and the board remains forward looking.
“There are challenges ahead with the drop in oil prices impacting on that sector but there are positives to look forward to with major investments in quay infrastructure, including for fishing and future decommissioning.”
Meanwhile the LPA has also decided to recruit a new member from the business community to fill a vacant position on the board. The new member would serve a two year term, with the opportunity to stand for reappointment in 2017. Details of how to apply can be found here.
