Letters / Guidance for retailers
In your article (‘Carrier bag charge’, SN 14/10/14) you report some retailers contacting trading standards to say they haven’t received information packs from Zero Waste Scotland about the Carrier Bag Charge, which comes into force in Scotland on Monday 20 October.
While we endeavoured to make sure that all retailers were contacted by direct mail through a third party company, we’d like to reassure any retailer who has not received a pack that all the relevant information and resources – including retailer guidance, posters, artwork and staff cue cards – are available from our dedicated website www.carrierbagchargescotland.org.uk.

Journalism comes at a price and because that price is not being paid in today’s rapidly changing media world, most publishers - national and local - struggle financially despite very healthy audience figures.
Most online publishers have started charging for access to their websites, others have chosen a different route. Shetland News currently has over 600 supporters who are all making small voluntary financial contributions. All funds go towards covering our cost and improving the service further.
