Letters / Copy & paste

Copied and pasted from the Yes Shetland Facebook Page: Douglas Young – Positivity means Yes Shetland now has four times as many supporters as No.

Douglas Young – If the Cooperative Bank, having donated £1,000,000 to the Labour Party including £50,000 for an office for Ed Balls, thinks that I, as a Yes voter will continue to bank with them whilst watching the Scottish Labour Party do all it can to prevent Independence, they are about to become sorely disappointed.
And the bonus paid by the new bank for becoming an account holder can be donated to the Yes cause.

A very positive statement Douglas; I don’t think so.

Also copied and pasted from the same page and posted by Douglas Young:

We try to be positive with all our postings here as Independence is a very positive course of action for any Country to take, although we do point out some of the negative campaigning carried out by the No side for balance and as a reminder of the consequences of not fighting for every single vote.
With 400% more followers on our Shetland page you only need take a quick glance at the No one to see the last three postings are all attacks on the SNP.
There is only one conclusion to be drawn from this plan of inaction; if you have no positive reasons for staying in the Union, attack the political party returned to Scottish Government by a landslide vote. And in so doing attack the majority of the electorate in Scotland.
It is a campaign doomed to fail, and fail it will.
With your continued support and persuading your family and friends to seek out the truth and make up their own minds, Yes will win on 18th September 2014.

Yes Shetland have 208 likes, Better Together Shetland have 49 likes – Douglas, that is 300% more, not 400%, if you are going to massage figures please be a bit more subtle.

Yes Shetland’s Facebook page is 99% made of attacks on the UK Government or individual members of the UK Government, most of it lies and childish rhetoric. Not exactly a positive reason for breaking up the Union.

Since when did fewer than 30% of the Scottish electorate become a majority?

They seem to think by saying the word “positive” they are being positive.

Around 50% of followers to their Yes Shetland page do not live in Shetland and are invited to like the page by folk who have liked the page themselves.

The Scotsman has support for independence flatlining at 25%, I think this is more of an indicator as to where the positive vote is, rather than what folk are liking on a Facebook page.
