News / Oilman punched woman

A GLASGOW man who punched a woman when she refused to believe he was the son of the owner of French oil firm Total was fined £300 at Lerwick Sheriff Court on Wednesday.

The court heard how Anthony Crawford, of 28 Annan Drive, punched the woman on the head to her injury on 9 September.

Procurator fiscal Duncan Mackenzie said the victim had no chance to defend herself as the assault took place inside a car at Mossbank.

The 31 year old lost his job at the Total gas plant building site as a result and his ferry ticket home had already been booked by the time he was released from custody following his arrest.

Defence solicitor Angela Mullane said her client had lost a well paid job due to his drunken behavior for which he was “very regretful”.

Sheriff Philip Mann also ordered Crawford to pay £250 compensation to his victim.
