THE Lerwick district heating scheme has been given top rating for CO² efficiency and the use of surplus heat as part of an European accreditation scheme.

In a third category, resource efficiency, the company scored almost full marks.

Shetland Heat Energy & Power is the first district heating scheme in the UK to be issued with the heat performance label.
