So now Mr Tinkler is speaking on behalf of “Sustainable” Shetland? (Full facts were not known, SN, 24 May 13).
That’s funny, since I have a distinct recollection of the group clearly stating in no uncertain term that he did not represent them in anyway. It also brings a smile to my face when he refers to mine and Lee Goodlad’s letters as “bleating” rather than simply expressing our views in a democratic way.
I’ve always tried to keep this discussion civilised, because there are two sides to every story but time and again, if you corner a dog he comes out biting.
He has decided to target the moral side of the public now, with the old mis-selling topic again. Due to his campaign he has brought the banks to their knees and will be targeting oil companies who have been fixing fuel prices next? Or will he ignore them and cherry pick to suite himself? Now that he has positioned himself as leader of the public, he will have a busy year.
In my opinion there is nothing that has come out in the past few weeks that can’t be overcome, we continue to have one of the best natural resources in the world, and government are looking at the interconnector charges.
The charitable trust has strategically positioned itself in this project which serves the public interest best. They have a 45 per cent share in VE, which they can either hold or sell.
Shetland’s voice can be best served with this share, without it we would have been left to the Scottish government and a multinational company, and seen very little in return and had very little say.
