Islanders invited to share views on electric vehicles
PEOPLE who live or work in Scotland’s islands are being asked to take part in a short survey about electric vehicles (EVs).
The research is being carried out by Urban Foresight, commissioned by ClimateXChange on behalf of the Scottish Government.
It looks at the practical and financial barriers island residents and businesses face when considering an EV.
These include access to charging, the cost of buying and servicing vehicles, and whether EVs meet everyday travel needs.
Those behind the survey said the findings will help shape future policy on EV adoption and support the Scottish Government’s targets to cut transport emissions.
Head of transport and energy at Urban Foresight Callum White said: “Island communities face transport challenges that are very different from those on the mainland, from longer distances between services, to limited access to charging and specialist repairs.
“We want to hear directly from the people who live and work there. Every response helps build a clearer picture of what needs to change so that EVs become a realistic option for island communities.”
The survey is open to anyone who lives or works on a Scottish island, whether or not they currently drive or own an EV. It can be accessed via this link.
