More Sandwick homes in Hjaltland’s future plans
MORE homes in Sandwick could be on the cards if Hjaltland Housing Association plans come to fruition.
The association is looking at a potential eight-home development at Houlland, following on from the 12 completed in the village five years ago.
Chief executive Bryan Leask said the tender for construction could go out in 2027/28.
“The project is currently included within our forward development and procurement programme, with a tender for the design team provisionally scheduled for 2026/27, with a tender for the construction of the homes scheduled for 2027/28,” he said.
“However, as with all projects in our forward programme, progression is subject to obtaining the necessary funding commitments, and all statutory approvals being secured.”
A key focus for the social housing organisation is the Staneyhill development in Lerwick, which will see 32 homes built in a first phase through a contract supported by the Scottish Government, Shetland Islands Council and the Bank of Scotland.
The association also went out to tender in the summer on a further six homes, with many more to come in future phases.
Outside of Hjaltland, an application for planning permission in principle was recently submitted by Tulloch Developments for ten detached homes at the Culsetter Park housing scheme in Brae.
Culsetter Park is located near to the junction at the end of Brae which leads towards Busta.
Full planning permission is also being sought for the construction of new access road and associated drainage infrastructure.
