Yachts leaving Lerwick after weekend visit
THE FIFTEEN yachts participating in the Nordic Round XL 2026 sailing event left Lerwick Harbour for Norway yesterday (Tuesday) after the crews had spent a weekend in port.
Now in its 25th year, the three-month long event has been described as a unique long-distance voyage starting off in the Dutch port of Breskens, travelling through the Irish Sea and along the west coast of Scotland before reaching Orkney and Shetland.
The yachts are now travelling across the North Sea before heading south along the Norwegian coast before returning to Den Helder in September.
Andrew Gibson was right among the fleet as they left Lerwick on Tuesday.
