Tesco remains closed after power outage
TESCO supermarket in Lerwick remains closed today (Monday) after being affected by a power outage on Sunday.
The store closed early yesterday, as reported by Shetland News, with a sign telling customers that no Wi-Fi meant they were not able to operate.
It came after parts of Shetland temporarily lost power at around 1.30pm on Sunday, with some people also reporting a loss of mobile network service for a short time.
Tesco has remained closed on Monday morning after the outage, with a spokesperson for the company saying the store was “temporarily closed this morning due to a power failure”.
“We are working to fix this as soon as possible and apologise for the inconvenience,” they added.
No estimated re-opening time was given by Tesco.
Lerwick’s Co-op store posted to social media on Sunday to say it was still open, adding that they had received a large number of calls to the store asking whether or not they had closed.
