Community / Holocaust memorial day marked at town hall
HOLOCAUST Memorial Day was marked at Lerwick Town Hall this morning (Thursday).
Lord lieutenant Lindsay Tulloch lit a candle and led the laying of wreaths at the county war memorial.
The event was led by Shetland Inter Faith and was attended by pupils from Bells’ Brae Primary School, with some reading poems of reflection. Pupils Darci and Georgie also laid wreaths on behalf of the school.
This year’s theme is ‘Bridging Generations’, “highlighting the crucial role of the next generation in preserving the memory of the Holocaust and carrying it forward”.
Lerwick Town Hall will also be lit purple this evening to mark this year’s Holocaust Memorial Day.
