The election in May is a straight fight between Emma Macdonald, the council leader with a dismal record, or Hannah Mary Goodlad, a young woman with 15 years of international business experience.

Last week she persuaded the Scottish Government to remove peak fares for Shetlanders.

Hannah Mary is energetic and determined. If she can achieve this for Shetland as a candidate, what more can she deliver if she is elected as our MSP in May?

The election is therefore an opportunity for Shetlanders to reset the dial and get a seat at the table in the Scottish Government.

For those who are looking for change and are considering voting for the Alex Armitage, I would simply say this: the Green Party will never come close to winning the Shetland seat.

A vote for the Green Party is a therefore a wasted vote. It may even be worse – if you had been thinking of voting for Hannah Mary but vote for Alex instead, you may get Emma.
