Letters / A major disservice

The misguided visitor guide that has apparently been written by AI illustrates perfectly two dangers that have arisen directly from the consumerist and money-driven lifestyles pursued by many to the detriment of many more.

The growing global sense of an entitlement to travel wherever and whenever the notion may take you is one of the most environmentally and societally destructive traits to have hit the world in many decades.

AI, another destructive development in so many ways, facilitates that sense of entitlement, and encourages people such as the underinformed author of the misguided guide to disseminate their nonsensical contributions to global misunderstandings.

There is a growing tendency for people to decide they’re experts in the history and culture of communities where they temporarily settle before they realise they will never be part of the community they’ve descended on and move on to their next victim.

It appears the author of the misguided guide has not even had the courtesy to live for a short time in the community he’s done a major disservice to.

Maybe it’s time people who are born and bred in the communities they live in to stop being polite to the people with a highly inflated sense of entitlement who decide to descend on those communities for a short time, and instead adopt a strategy of rudeness to discourage them?

Maybe this would help to preserve the history and culture of those communities?
