El Guapo.

A FLAVOUR of Argentina is heading to Shetland in the coming days as visiting music act El Guapo gets set to play two gigs in rural venues.

The group will perform at Hymhus in Bigton on Sunday (6 July) and the Walls Regatta Club on Monday (7 July).

Also performing at both events will be Catriona Price, a Scottish violinist, composer and artistic director who is a member of acts like Fara and Twelfth Day.

El Guapo is a young Argentine band that has been performing internationally since forming in 2019.

The provide a unique blend of Latin-rooted influences, combined with elements of rock and funk, although for the Shetland gigs the duo will be performing acoustically.

Meanwhile Catriona Price’s debut solo album Hert was released to critical acclaim in 2023 with a launch at Celtic Connections and a sold out show at Edinburgh International Festival.

She is half of the contemporary duo Twelfth Day and a member of folk band Fara, while she is involved with string ensemble Thirteen North and Routes to Roots – an organisation connecting artists from around the world to create new intercultural collaborations.

Doors will open at the concert in Bigton at 7pm, for a 7.30pm start, with entry costing £12/£6.

For the Walls concert doors will open at 7pm, with adults costing £12 and under 16s £6. Supper will be provided.

Meanwhile sou- infused Texas rock band Alva Sim and the Stray Arrows will also perform at Hymhus in Bigton on Monday (7 July). That gig will also have a 7.30pm start, with tickets costing £12/£6.
