NORWEGIAN yacht EnderPearl was the first boat to arrive in Lerwick this afternoon (Thursday) as the annual Bergen-Shetland race returned to the isles.

Nearly 30 boats set off from Bergen on Wednesday headed for Lerwick.

Of the 29 entries, three did not start the race – Asterix, Frekles and Freydis.

A couple of boats have also retired from the race on route due to technical issues with the jib and rigging.

There is set to be a prizegiving event held in Lerwick on Friday evening.

The EnderPearl yacht is skippered by Kenneth Bjørklund.

However speaking prior to the race, he said the boat will not feature in the return leg as the crew plan to carry on via the Hebrides and Irish Sea to take part in the Fastnet Race.

People can track the other entrants’ arrival into Lerwick here.
