News / Coastguard search called off with no casualties
A SEARCH for a potentially sinking boat near the South Mainland of Shetland has been stood down, with no casualties.
The coastguard was called to the scene at around 2.15pm, with the Sumburgh search and rescue helicopter also on the scene.
The Lerwick lifeboat attended along with coastguard crews from Lerwick, Sumburgh and Hillswick.
Crews were searching for a “small skiff” type vessel, which was thought to have been taking on water.
The search and rescue helicopter searched the coastline near to St Ninian’s Isle.
Coastguard said the search was called off at around 6.18pm.
