THE FIRST yachts have begun to arrive in Lerwick Harbour as the first leg of the Bergen-Shetland race comes to an end.

First over the line in Lerwick was Norway’s Lolmao, shortly before 8pm.

After some retirals, there are 20 participants left in this year’s race. Most are from Norway, although there are a couple of US and Denmark registered boats.

There will be prizegiving ceremony in Lerwick on Friday night before the yachts set sail for Norway on the return leg on Sunday morning.
