Transport / Sumburgh largely unaffected by air traffic control outage
A TECHNICAL issue that caused a nationwide failure of air traffic control systems on Monday and grounded hundreds of flights has had little impact on Sumburgh Airport.
Earlier today Loganair advised customers to check the latest information on flights before setting off.
But the airline also expressed confidence that most intra-Scotland flights should be able to operate with a minimum of disruption.
Sumburgh Airport confirmed a short while ago that the air traffic control issue “has only had minimal impact” on the operations at the airport.
Meanwhile, National Air Traffic Services (NATS) confirmed that the issue causing the problem has been identified and remedied.
