Health / Handwashing and social contact advice remains amid reports of a rise in Covid
NHS Shetland has reminded people that Covid and other respiratory illnesses will still be circulating in the community – amid reports of an increase in infection after the Tall Ships.
Director of public health Dr Susan Laidlaw, however, reiterated that community testing for Covid stopped some time ago now.
She added: “Our health advice remains the same – continue regular hand washing, if coughing or sneezing please do so into a tissue and dispose of it appropriately.
“If you are unwell with respiratory symptoms, please limit your contact with others.”
Many thousands of people attended the Tall Ships events in Lerwick at the end of last month.
Hillswick Health Centre GP Dr Susan Bowie said a couple of days ago on social media that “there is a lot of Covid about at the moment” and as a result she was back to wearing masks.
