AFTER some challenging weather over the Easter weekend filming scenes for the upcoming Shetland crime drama (series 8) is moving to Burra on Wednesday (12 April).

The ITV Shetland crew will be working at Minn Beach and the immediate surrounding area all day between the hours of 8am and 10pm.

Location manager Davie Gardner said: “There are no road closures or other official traffic related restrictions necessary on this occasion, and the beach/beach area itself will generally remain open, but the public should note that this activity will inevitably lead to an increase in through traffic in both Burra and Trondra during the above hours and, as such, they should exercise increased caution in this respect.

“There will also be a number of our technical support vehicles located in the public area(s) above the beach, but this area will remain manned and managed from a traffic movement and parking related perspective at all times.

“With this in mind it may be necessary for members of the public wishing access to the beach, or the area in general, to park slightly further away than usual and walk in – but this aspect will be managed by our locations team on site, taking special note of disabled access.

“Please also note there may also be areas of the beach, or the surrounding area, that may be restricted to public access due to our filming needs at certain times of the day, but again public movement in this area will be managed by our locations crew.

“Finally, our vehicular support ‘unit’ will be located at the Bridge End outdoor centre from late pm on Tuesday (11 April) until late pm on Wednesday night. Please be aware of this and increased traffic movements in this area as well.

Once again thank you for your co-operation with this and apologies in advance too for any possible disruption or inconvenience caused during this time.
