A MEMORIAL event to celebrate the short life of Luke Malcolmson will be held at Mareel on Saturday 1 April.

Luke passed away peacefully in the Beatson West of Scotland cancer care centre on 23 March after having been diagnosed with SLL leukaemia five months earlier. He was just 21 years old.

His brave fight against cancer touched many people while his family – parents Iain and Suzanne Malcolmson and brother Jacob – spent most of the last five months with him in Glasgow as he was undergoing treatment.

In a message on social media last week, Iain Malcolmson said: “We are so proud of the way he has conducted himself during this trying time and we stand humbled.”

He added:” Luke wanted us all to celebrate his life in style, so please stay with us at Mareel after the service. We will be there until 8pm with food, a bar and lots of music, dancing and fun. Let’s make him proud.”

Saturday’s memorial service starts a 2pm. There will be a collection for the Teenage Cancer Trust and for children’s cancer charity Calums Cabin.
