Business / Sandwick Post Office to temporarily close during shop refurbishment
THE SANDWICK Post Office will be closed for around six weeks while the local shop undergoes refurbishment.
During this time the Sandwick Baking Company will open up a temporary shop in the local hall.
The existing shop will close its doors at 6.30pm on Saturday 2 July, reopening in the Carnegie Hall at 8am on the Monday.
Meanwhile the last day of full service for the Post Office will be Friday 1 July, from 8.30am to 1pm.
It is due to reopen on 18 August at 8am.
Post Office network provision lead David Duff said: “We apologise for any inconvenience caused to our customers during the work.
“The safety of our customers is of paramount, therefore, to allow for the building work to take place, it will be necessary for the service to close temporarily.”
The Post Office pointed to alternatives in Bigton and Dunrossness.
The Sandwick Baking Company is planning to extend its shop and car park.
