Community / Knab redevelopment consultation opens
MORE details of what the redevelopment of the former Anderson High School site could look like have been revealed.
It comes as the council and consultants hold in-person and online events to gather people’s views.
An event is taking place at Lerwick Town Hall today (Wednesday) through 8pm, and from 9am to 2pm on Thursday.
They are focused on the infrastructure and public realm elements of what will be a mixed-use site involving housing.
Images presented at the consultation events show off what some of the residential areas could look like.
It says a key objective of the Knab masterplan is to design streets and public spaces that prioritise pedestrians and cyclists over vehicles.
There could also be plenty of greenery, while a playpark is also suggested as well as public art pieces.
There could also be parking space for 232 vehicles.
Construction of the council led development will be phased, and the infrastructure and public realm work could start in 2023. House building could follow in 2024.
People can leave comments about the proposals online until 24 June.
