A WOMAN has been rescued from the waters near the Sletts, in Lerwick, and taken to the Gilbert Bain Hospital as a precaution.

Emergency services including the Lerwick lifeboat and coastguard teams were called out just after 5pm on Wednesday.

A police spokesman said that a report had been received raising concern for a person on the shoreline at South Road.

“The woman has been traced safely and passed into the care of medical staff,” the spokesman said.
