News / Weather alters ferry schedule

The MV Hjaltland is to depart Lerwick three hours early on Saturday.

THE FORECAST of further bad weather has led Serco NorthLink to adjust its ferry timetable between Aberdeen and Lerwick on Saturday evening.

The southbound sailing of the MV Hjaltland to Aberdeen, which had been due to depart Lerwick at 7pm, will now leave three hours early at 4pm.

Meanwhile the MV Hrossey will still sail north from Aberdeen at the scheduled time of 5pm, but the call into Kirkwall has been cancelled and she will instead sail direct to Shetland. Her arrival on Sunday morning may be subject to delays.

Freight vessels the MV Arrow and the MV Hildasay, both currently in Aberdeen, had been due to sail for Lerwick on Saturday evening, but those trips have both been cancelled.

The Arrow is now scheduled to sail from Aberdeen to Lerwick on Sunday at 6pm, while the Hildasay is due to sail to Kirkwall three hours earlier that day.
