News / Ferry delays expected
LIFELINE ferry operator Serco NorthLink is advising passengers to expect delays this weekend as gale force westerly winds are likely to have an impact on sailing times.
The company said that its passenger ferry Hjaltland, sailing north from Aberdeen, is expected to be two hours late in arriving in Lerwick on Saturday morning.
Friday’s southbound service via Kirkwall to Aberdeen meanwhile may also be subject to minor delays.
NorthLink also said that Saturday’s northbound service will not be calling at Kirkwall but sailing directly to Lerwick, leaving Aberdeen at 5pm as scheduled.
Saturday’s southbound service from Lerwick to Aberdeen is expected to be delayed by up to an hour in arrived in the Granite City.
Saturday’s freight vessel meanwhile is under review and could well be cancelled.
