News / Mhairi Black campaign visit
PROMINENT SNP MP Mhairi Black is to visit Shetland this week to support Miriam Brett’s campaign to become the Northern Isles’ next MP.
Black, who at 20 was the youngest MP elected to the House of Commons in almost two centuries, will appear alongside Brett for a Q&A session at the Shetland Museum and Archives from 7pm on Tuesday night.
She has been one of the party’s most powerful voices at Westminster since winning election in 2015. Brett, 25, is seeking to unseat Liberal Democrat MP Alistair Carmichael, who has held office since 2001 and won by a margin of 817 votes over Danus Skene two years ago.
