News / High winds cause power cuts
ENGINEERS from Scottish & Southern Energy spent the night restoring power supplies to costumers in the north mainland of Shetland.
A company spokeswoman said high winds on Monday and overnight into Tuesday were to blame for two power cuts in the area.
Almost 1,800 customers in the north mainland were affected when electricity was lost at 2.47am.
The spokeswoman said power was brought back in stages with the last of the customers being reconnected by 4.19am.
Meanwhile 137 customers in North Roe and Ollaberry were without power for two and half hours on Monday. Engineers managed to restore supplies by 7.52pm.
