News / Hillswick fire
A FIRE on the Stucca housing estate in Hillswick left a man without a living room after fire crews spent one and a half hours getting it under control on Thursday night.
Fire crews from Hillswick and Brae used breathing apparatus, hose reel and main jets, a thermal imaging camera and small tools to extinguish the blaze in the semi-detached house.
A fire service spokeswoman said the living room was 100 per cent smoke damaged and 40 per cent fire damaged and some items of furniture were destroyed.
The local GP was called out to check over the male occupant of the house, but he was not taken to hospital.
The fire service received the call shoprtly after 10pm and did not have it under control until 11.30pm, though they stayed longer to make sure there was no risk of it starting again.
