News / Threatened to kill
A YOUNG Lerwick woman who threatened to kill police officers while wielding a knife has been placed under supervision for two years.
Claire Antonio, of 22 Grostane, Lerwick, previously admitted threatening the police at her home on 23 June this year.
The 20 year old also pled guilty to obstructing, resisting and threatening two police officers at an address at Lerwick’s Sandveien on 4 April as they attempted to assist an unconscious man.
Procurator fiscal Duncan Mackenzie said that the police went to Antonio’s home in June after receiving repeated phone calls, only to be greeted by a locked door and shouts of “you will die tonight” as she brandished a knife.
The fiscal said that in April Antonio had been a “considerable nuisance”, as she shouted and demanded the names and numbers of officers whilst obstructing them in their duties.
He suggested the young woman’s actions were the result of an “unhealthy interest” in police officers.
“There is suspicion she has been following their Facebook pages,” he added.
Defence agent Tommy Allan explained that at the time his client had been on medication that “didn’t agree with her”.
Placing her under two years of supervision, Sheriff Philip Mann told Antonio: “You will be in very serious trouble if you don’t take a tumble to yourself now.”
